Hi! I’m Olga, a vegan food photographer & chef. I’ve been working in the food industry for over twenty years, but it didn’t start out that way.
I have a background in elementary education, but after teaching third grade for several years, I realized that molding young minds wasn’t my true passion. That’s when I decided to follow my culinary dreams, enrolled at the Culinary Institute of America and became a wedding and custom cake designer in NYC.
After I met CJ, we moved to Sonoma County, California, where I opened the Cosmic Cookie Jar, a gluten-free and vegetarian, farmer’s market based bakery. California and working at the markets was a blast, but we eventually decided to move back east to be closer to family.
Going Vegan
I had been vegetarian for well over a decade, but didn’t go vegan until we moved to North Carolina, where a perfect storm of events came together to open my eyes to the horrifying truth about factory farms, as well as the dairy and egg industries.
I’ve been snapping all the photos for the bakery and blog for ages, so I figured why not mix my passion for whipping up tasty vegan dishes with my mad photography skills? And bam! Square One Photo studio was born! Now I get to capture mouthwatering shots of scrumptious plant-based delights. It’s the best of both worlds!
Just so you know, all the pictures you see on this site are of real plant-based food. No crazy stuff like motor oil on pancakes or shaving cream on cupcakes. Just good, natural food!

We are currently living in Massachusetts with our amazing dogs, Sawyer & Finn, and our adorable kitties, Niki & Cassie. But most of our work is done remotely.
